The former director of one of the departments of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and two heads of a state enterprise supplied the Ukrainian Armed Forces with defective heavy machine guns.
In 2022, these officials were to provide 400 certified heavy machine guns to combat units. The State Bureau of Investigation reported this on Facebook on January 14.
It turned out that 200 machine guns purchased at state expense did not have any markings, corresponding technical documentation and accompanying documents. The weapon even failed after several shots because parts and mechanisms were destroyed.
The actions of the attackers resulted in more than UAH 193 million in damage to the state, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters put themselves in danger when using these weapons.
The ex-official of the Ministry of Defense has already been informed of suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 191 (abuse of official position committed on an especially large scale) and part 2 of Art. 114-1 (obstruction of the legitimate activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, resulting in grave consequences) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
And two managers of a state enterprise are suspected of committing similar crimes, as well as official forgery (part 2 of article 366, part 2 of article 114-1 and part 5 of article 191 of the Criminal Code).
Let us remind you that the DBR began an investigation into the situation in the 155th mechanized brigade “Anna Kyiv”. Law enforcement officers are studying the facts presented in the media as part of criminal proceedings initiated under Art. 408 (desertion) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
