An open fire at an oil depot in the Russian city of Engels (Saratov region), which had been burning for five days, was allegedly extinguished. The governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin, announced this on his Telegram channel.
The Russian official, in statements about the fiery incident in Engels, avoided specifying that the local oil depot, the Kristall Combine, was on fire. He continues to refer to the damaged facility as an “industrial enterprise.”
The governor of Saratov expressed gratitude to “all employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, rescuers and other specialists who were on site around the clock.”
“Work continues at the facility damaged by the drone strike,” the Russian official added.
Earlier, on January 8, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed a strike on an oil depot in the city of Engels, Saratov region. There, an oil depot that supplied fuel to Russian strategic aircraft caught fire.
