Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine offered Slovakia its assistance while adapting to the lack of gas transit from Russia, but Robert Fico “pompously refused it.”
Now he is trying with PR, lies and loud accusations, trying to shift the blame from himself to someone else. But the problem is precisely that he relied on Moscow, and not on his country, not on a united Europe and not on common sense,” the president wrote on the X network.
Zelensky added that “it was Fico’s obvious mistake to hope that his shadow schemes with Moscow will continue indefinitely.”
Zelensky hopes that diversification of sources of energy supplies to Europe, cooperation with the European Commission and Trump’s plan to increase supplies of American gas to Europe “will help overcome the problems arising from the short-sightedness of individual European figures.”
On January 12, the Slovak parliamentary delegation went to Moscow at the invitation of the Russian State Duma.
The topics of negotiations, among other things, will be gas supplies to Slovakia and Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Poland prohibited the Slovak delegation from flying over its territory, so the plane flew over the Czech Republic and Germany.
At the end of December 2024, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico met in Moscow with Putin, who promised that the Russian Gazprom would find new routes to supply gas to Bratislava.
Ukraine officially stopped the transit of Russian gas through its territory on January 1, 2025.
