Poland closed the skies to the delegation of the Slovak Parliament heading to Moscow. The deputies had to fly through the Czech Republic and Germany.
This was announced by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Andrei Danko.
I learned that Poland does not give permission for direct flights. We are forced to fly over the territory through Germany.
Robert Fico said the day before that Putin promised him an extension of gas supplies to Slovakia. Parliamentarians confirmed that they will discuss this topic in Russia. One of the delegation members said that he wanted to bring information about life in Russia – “after all, people live there, Germans, French and Americans do business there.”
TASR writes that Poland banned them from flying over its territory, so the Slovaks flew through the Czech Republic and Germany. Together with the Vice-Speaker of the Slovak Parliament Andrej Danko, other members of the ruling SMER-SD party are traveling to Russia: Tibor Gašpar, Richard Gluck, Adam Lucansky and two other parliamentarians.
The Vice Speaker called the purpose of the trip to establish dialogue with Russia. To this end, he plans to communicate with Russian parliamentarians and ministers.
Speaking in the State Duma is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. This is an honor for every politician, and I am proud to be among about 30 world leaders speaking there. I think that it is the parliaments that should hold the first meeting after such a long period (lack of dialogue – ed.). Prime Minister Fico started this dialogue and now it is up to parliament to develop it,” he said.
Another purpose of the trip, he calls the desire to “open the eyes of people in Slovakia.”
If the Russians really wanted to do something bad to us, they would stop supplying us with nuclear fuel, and that would be the end. Slovakia receives up to 60% of its electricity from nuclear power plants, he added.
