Berlin considered the statement of the 47th US President-elect Donald Trump about Greenland.
German government spokesman Steffen Gebestreit called for adherence to the principles of the inviolability of borders, commenting on Trump’s statements about Greenland. Ukrinform reported this on Wednesday, January 8.
Gebestreit mentioned the principles of the UN Charter and the final actions of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe that borders cannot be changed by force.
“Everyone follows these principles and, of course, they will remain in the future,” he said.
Berlin considered this statement of the US President-elect, however, they refused to comment or analyze it.
At the same time, the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Bundestag, Michael Roth, responded to Trump’s statements.
“Continued anger at Donald Trump does not help. Action is needed. Europe must be stronger and more stable: due to military strength, restraint, EU team spirit, renewal of liberal democracy + responsibility for peace and security in our continent,” the politician wrote on platform X .
Let’s add that earlier the Prime Minister of Denmark, Matte Frederiksen, responded to the statements of US President-elect Donald Trump about the possibility of using force to control Greenland, saying “he cannot imagine such a thing.”
Let’s remember that Donald Trump does not rule out the use of military force to control Greenland or the Panama Canal, which he has talked about in recent weeks.
