Canada began its G7 Presidency on January 1, which will last until 2025.
Ukraine will remain focused on the Group of Seven (G7) meetings next year. Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly wrote this on Friday, January 3, on her social network account X.
He informed that he spoke on the phone with the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Andrei Sibiga.
Joly indicated that this was his first official call since Canada’s G7 presidency began.
“Ukraine remains a priority for the G7. We discussed the current situation and further needs. Canada will always remain a strong ally of Ukraine,” Joly said.
In turn, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also spoke about his conversation with his Canadian colleague. He noted that together with Joly they noted the good development of the Ukrainian-Canadian partnership in 2024, discussed the situation on the battlefield and our defense needs, and coordinated positions on the eve of the main international event.
“I appreciate the confirmation that Ukraine will be a priority for Canada’s G7 presidency until 2025,” the minister said.
We remind you that Ukraine received winter uniforms for the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Canada. About 200 pallets of winter equipment were delivered to the Ukrainian military. We are talking about sleeping bags, thermal underwear, boots and socks.
