In Finland they are asking to arrest the Eagle S tanker – it is suspected of breaking cables in the Baltic Sea.
Now the tanker is docked at a port near the Finnish city of Porvoo. It is inspected by the police and the Transport and Communications Agency Traficom to determine the vessel’s compliance with international conventions.
Electricity network company Fingrid, which filed the lawsuit, says this is necessary to compensate for damage due to damage to the Estlink 2 undersea power cable. The amount of damage is not specified.
On December 25, the Estlink 2 submarine cable between Finland and Estonia broke. At this time, the Eagle S ship was nearby, sailing from Russia to Egypt. This tanker belongs to the shadow fleet of the Russian Federation, and spy equipment was also found on it.
