The Russian military has begun using cluster munitions to attack Ukraine’s energy grid. On Thursday, January 2, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko spoke about the change in the tactics of the invaders during a telethon.
“The tactics of such attacks have changed, the weapons have changed, as a rule, weapons with cluster munitions to cause maximum damage to the energy system, but now the system is balanced,” said by Galushchenko.
According to him, 2024 will be the most difficult year for the Ukrainian energy system in comparison with 2023 and 2022. The enemy has carried out 13 large-scale attacks from March to December, and in addition attacks the energy sector every night
In the past month, Russia has carried out four major attacks on the power grid, using all kinds of weapons. However, as the minister noted, Ukraine is “hitting” and citizens will notice this, especially, during the New Year holidays. The power grid is now operational.
“Thanks to the repair campaign, we managed to restore a certain amount of nine lost gigawatts, I won’t give the numbers, but the main thing is that now the system is balanced,” said Galushchenko.
