In the American city of New Orleans in Louisiana, a car drove into a crowd in the morning. At least 10 people were killed and 30 were injured.
Earlier, CBS News, citing witnesses, reported that the truck crashed into the crowd at high speed, after which the driver got out and started firing a weapon, and the police returned fire.
The fatal incident occurred in the early morning on Bourbon Street, which is known for its nightlife as many celebrated New Year’s Eve.
Other witnesses reported watching fireworks after hearing booms on a nearby street. All they saw was a white truck driving through the barriers at high speed. After the “roar,” they said, they heard gunshots.
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry called the event a “horrible act of violence.” He urged people to avoid the area.
