The Ukrainian military-industrial complex has increased its capacity sixfold.
In particular, in the drone segment, domestic products account for more than 96%. More than 1.2 million drones were purchased through the Drone Army project. In total, more than half of the state budget expenditures were allocated to defense in 2024, “literally every hryvnia collected within the country.” Prime Minister Denis Shmigal announced this on December 31 at a government meeting.
The head of government noted that thanks to investments from the state and the private sector, the capabilities of the Ukrainian defense industry have increased sixfold. There are now more than 800 public and private companies operating in the defense sector. More than 1 thousand types of weapons and equipment were approved for operation. Half of these weapons are domestically produced.
According to Shmygal, Ukraine now produces more self-propelled artillery systems than any country in the free world. The missile program has also advanced significantly and Ukrainian long-range weapons have been created.
In addition, the so-called “Danish model” of loading the defense industry began to work.
That is, partners help Ukraine by purchasing weapons for Ukraine from Ukrainian enterprises. We managed to attract almost $1 billion,” added Shmigal.
Let us recall that in November, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that Sweden would finance the production of long-range drones in Ukraine.
