The drones could be used as part of NATO’s Operation Cabrit, which aims to strengthen the Alliance’s presence in the Baltic region to deter Russian aggression.
The UK Ministry of Defense awarded a contract to Modini to supply long-range kamikaze drones known as One Way Effector (OWE). This was reported by Defense Express.
The agreement provides for the delivery of an undisclosed number of drones over two years, starting in 2025. The total value of the contract is 7.5 million pounds sterling (approximately $9.4 million).
The order was carried out without an alternative, as only Modini was able to guarantee the delivery of drones with the required characteristics within the specified time frame.
Although the name of the specific model has not been officially revealed, the only known development of the company is the Dart 250. This drone can carry out missions at a range of up to 250 km, carry a warhead of weighing up to 25 kg, as well as an advanced navigation system capable of following the terrain.
It has been reported that the drones could be used as part of NATO’s Operation Cabrit, which aims to strengthen the Alliance’s presence in the Baltic region to deter Russian aggression.
Britain recently tested the latest radio frequency weapons to counter drones.
Also in the UK, new laser weapons capable of destroying drones have been successfully tested.
