The Ministry of Social Policy, together with UNHCR, is providing additional financial assistance for the purchase of solid fuel for the second year.
The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees has allocated 1.04 billion hryvnias to provide Ukrainians with coal and firewood during the heating season. The press service of the Ministry of Social Policy reported this on Thursday, December 26.
47 thousand households received money.
During the heating season in 2024, more than 245.5 thousand Ukrainian households received financial assistance worth more than UAH 3.4 billion from all sources of financing.
Specifically: UAH 2.4 billion (for 198 thousand households) – from the state budget of Ukraine and UAH 1.02 billion (for 47 thousand households) – from UNHCR. Payments continue to be made.
“We are grateful to our partners for systematic cooperation, which helps to support those most in need of support The Ministry of Social Policy implements a number of projects, thanks to which Ukrainians from vulnerable categories receive targeted assistance to meet their basic needs,” said First Deputy Minister Daria Marchak.
The payment is aimed at supporting Ukrainians from vulnerable categories. Therefore, an additional payment is given to citizens who receive housing subsidies and benefits for the purchase of solid fuel in the winter.
Earlier it was reported that a Memorandum was signed between Ukraine and the United Nations Refugee Agency in Ukraine (UNHCR) to ensure payments for solid fuel during the winter for heating homes. 92 thousand households will receive funds.
We remind you that the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, together with partners, has allocated $20 million to local organizations to support displaced Ukrainians, including vulnerable categories of the population.
