Alexei Makeev’s successor in this position seems to be the current Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel, Yevgeny Korniychuk.
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky replaced the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany. German tabloid BILD reports this with reference to sources in diplomatic circles.
The head of state dismissed Alexei Makeev, who held this post since September 2022. His successor is the current Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel, Yevgeny Korniychuk.
The official reason for replacing Makeev was the regular rotation of diplomats. Diplomatic circles said this decision may have been influenced by the “systematic and public” criticism of Makeev by his predecessor Andrei Melnik.
The former Ukrainian ambassador to Germany blamed Makeev for his lack of activity and called for more intensive work.
According to BILD, Makeev will stay in Berlin until February next year. During his tenure as ambassador, Germany provided Ukraine with 121 battle tanks and 140 infantry fighting vehicles, as well as many other weapons.
As we already wrote, Vladimir Zelensky appointed a new ambassador of Ukraine to Hungary – a Ukrainian volunteer from Transcarpathia named Fedor Sandor, also known as “professor from the trenches.”
