Thousands of Ukrainian citizens were forced to leave the peninsula due to regular persecution and repression by the occupiers, the militarization of society, rejection of the occupation and unwillingness to live under it.
Within ten years of the annexation of Crimea, the Russian authorities replaced more than 35% of the inhabitants of the peninsula. This was said on Tuesday, December 24, by the acting permanent representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Olga Kurishko, Tizhden wrote.
He noted that according to the results of a sociological study by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology on the cognitive de-occupation of Crimea, the ethnic structure of the population of Crimea changed significantly after the annexation of Russia.
“The Russian authorities have organized a large-scale resettlement of residents of the Russian Federation on the peninsula, and after 2022, forced relocation from the recently occupied regions of Ukraine,” Kuryshko said.
Russia has moved or encouraged nearly a million people to move to the peninsula, he said.
“And this at a time when thousands of Ukrainian citizens were forced to leave their homes due to regular persecution and repression by the occupiers, militarization, rejection of the occupation and reluctance to live under it for a region with a population of about 2.5 million people , this means that during the decade of occupation, the Russians replaced, according to the most conservative estimates, more than 35% of the inhabitants,” emphasizes by Kuryshko.
Earlier, Putin said that Russia should have invaded Ukraine earlier, but it should have been better prepared for it.
