Germany has stopped funding green hydrogen, energy infrastructure, as well as funding Batumi’s water infrastructure.
Germany has suspended projects worth 237 million euros for Georgia due to the situation in the country. This was reported by the German Ambassador in Tbilisi Peter Fischer on the social network X.
According to him, Germany “with a heavy heart” has suspended projects with Georgia worth 237 million euros. Thus, the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development responded to Georgia’s departure from the EU path and the dispersal of protests.
“We stopped funding green hydrogen, energy infrastructure, as well as funding water infrastructure in Batumi. We continue to support civil society and the rule of law,” Fischer said.
We remind you that the situation in Georgia became tense on November 28, when the government decided to postpone the negotiations on the accession of Georgia to the EU until 2028. This led to mass protests.
On December 14, presidential elections were held in Georgia. The electoral college elected Mikhail Kavelashvili as president. The current leader, Salome Zurabishvili, does not recognize the election results.
