Poland is completing the construction of a wall on the border with Belarus, about 300 km long. The work is expected to be completed on July 15. This was reported by Ukrinform in connection with the leadership of the Border Guard Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland.
“We expect completion on July 15 … We have extended (contracts with subcontractors – ed.) Due to objective geological reasons that arose during the installation of the piles,” said Deputy Interior Minister Macieja Wonsik.
Violeta Gozhkovska, Vice-Chairman of the Border Guard Service of the Republic of Poland, that the biggest problem during the construction of the wall was groundwater, formed as a result of thaws and floods.
The builders had to lay 7 kilometers of barrier.
According to the head of the Polish Border Guard Service, Tomasz Prague, after the construction of the wall is completed, illegal migrants will try to get to Poland in other directions, especially from the territory of Lithuania or Ukraine.
“Although I expect that there will be fewer people from Ukraine, because the Ukrainian side is very protective on this border,” he said.
Earlier it was reported that Poland had built 140 km of “walls” on the border with Belarus with a height of 5.5 m.
