The US President-elect recalled that the service was “given a peak schedule,” so he advocated continuing its work “for a while.”
US President-elect Donald Trump has advocated for TikTok to continue operating in the country, at least for a while. He said he received billions of views on the platform during his presidential campaign. The country’s elected leader said this in a speech at the annual AmericaFest celebration in Phoenix, Arizona, on Sunday, December 22, Reuters reports.
The president-elect’s statement sent a message to the crowd in Phoenix that he opposes TikTok’s possible entry into the US market.
He made his position known after meeting with TikTok’s CEO last week.
“I had peak traffic. It was a record, it looked nice, and as soon as I saw it, I immediately said, ‘Well, let’s let this brat stay with us for a while,'” said Trump.
As we already wrote, the head of the US House of Representatives Committee on China asked Google and Apple to be ready to remove TikTok from the US app stores on January 19, 2025 without delay.
