Germany’s support for Ukraine is unprecedented and second only to the United States in volume, Rutte said.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte considers Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s criticism of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to be unjustified. This was reported by Reuters on Monday, December 23.
“I have often told Zelensky that he should stop criticizing Olaf Scholz, because I think it is unfair,” the NATO secretary general said.
Rutte emphasized that Germany’s support for Ukraine is unprecedented and second only to the United States in volume, and for this Ukraine “should thank Scholz.”
“What Olaf Scholz has done has contributed remarkably to the fact that Germany is second only to the United States in terms of military support for Ukraine – 28 billion euros, and according to some estimates even 34 billion leads in many other countries, including large European economies,” he said.
At the same time, speaking about Scholz’s position on the supply of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine, the Secretary General of NATO noted that he himself would make a different decision and would not impose any restrictions on their use.
As is known, Zelensky has previously criticized Scholz, especially the fact that he had a telephone conversation with the Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The Ukrainian president has also repeatedly expressed public confusion over the German Chancellor’s refusal to provide Taurus cruise missiles.
