About 42% of the casualties in Ukraine in November resulted from Russian use of long-range weapons.
The United Nations, as of February 2022, officially recorded the death of more than 12.3 thousand civilians in Ukraine as a result of the Russian aggression, and more than 27.8 thousand people were injured. UN Deputy Secretary General for Disarmament Izumi Nakamitsu said this on Friday, December 20, Ukrinform wrote.
“In the period from February 24, 2022 to November 30, 2024, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights recorded more than 12,340 dead and 27,836 wounded civilians in Ukraine,” he said.
According to him, more civilian casualties were caused by Russia’s use of long-range weapons.
“In November, such attacks caused about 42% of deaths and injuries, which is more than in previous months,” he said.
In addition, Nakamitsu noted that from January 1 to November 30, 2024, 341 civilians were killed and 1,803 were injured as a result of the use of aerial bombs, which is several times higher than last year’s numbers.
On December 17, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on human rights violations in the occupied Ukrainian territories, in which for the first time it called the Russian invasion a “war of occupation”.
In Strasbourg, members of the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the deteriorating human rights situation in Crimea, which is temporarily occupied by Russia.
