Hungary blocked the inclusion of Russian oligarchs in the last two EU sanctions packages – co-owners of the Kalashnikov concern and Transmashholding, which supplies military equipment, reports VSquare.
According to the publication, Lithuania tried to include Russian oligarchs Iskandar Makhmudov and Andrei Bokarev in the EU’s 14th and 15th sanctions package. However, both times Hungary blocked this decision.
Uzbek-Russian oligarch Iskandar Makhmudov and his henchman Andrei Bokarev are billionaires who co-own the Kalashnikov concern and the Russian railway giant Transmashholding, which also supplies military equipment.
As VSquare suggests, the reason for the blocking of Hungary’s sanctions may be the fact that Transmashholding had a joint venture with the country, in which the Hungarian Minister of Defense Kristof Szalay-Bobrownicki was involved.
We remind you that on December 16, the EU Council adopted the 15th package of sanctions against Russia. It is designed to counter the Russian “shadow fleet” and undermine the Russian military-industrial complex.
The EU has started work on the 16th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation
