President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky responded to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposal to negotiate on the basis of the Istanbul Agreements.
The head of state said that no Istanbul agreements existed, but was only an ultimatum from the aggressor country. The Kremlin wanted to change the direction of Ukraine’s development in order to govern our state. Zelensky made a corresponding statement on December 19 in Brussels.
There was a response to the ultimatum of the Russian Federation. He simply suggested that Ukraine surrender, freeze the conflict, change the direction of development in Russia, so that they would lead our state. And this person says that these are some kind of deals. Well, just an old dreamer! “He lives in his own world and his own aquarium,” he said.
Zelensky also commented on Russian dictator Putin’s words about a “technological duel.” The war criminal suggested hitting Kyiv with the Oreshnik to see what would happen. Zelensky then questioned the adequacy of the head of the Russian Federation.
Putin said it was a “technological duel.” He says that we will hit Kyiv somewhere with Oreshnik, and let them set up air defense and see what happens. Do you think this is an adequate person? Just scumbags,” the president said in Brussels.
The Ukrainian president also said that Ukraine supports France’s initiative to send peacekeepers. Kyiv calls on its partners to join these efforts.
The head of state also expressed gratitude for the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s membership in the European Union and noted the importance of achieving progress in 2025 during the presidencies of Poland and Denmark.
Our goal is to open all clusters within the next year. We have made significant progress in ensuring Ukraine’s financial stability. Thanks to your support, we feel more confident next year,” he noted.
Separately, Zelensky noted the need for more active use of frozen Russian assets to counter Russian aggression.
Zelensky also said that Ukraine is against pumping Russian gas to Slovakia under the guise of Azerbaijani gas.
The head of state emphasized that Kyiv does not want to play a game where “another country receives gas from Russia and then transits it as its own,” because this will allow Moscow to earn money for the war. That is why Ukraine will not extend the agreement with Russia on the export of its gas to Europe through Ukrainian territory – the current one will end by the new year.
Let us recall that on December 19, Russian war criminal Vladimir said that he was ready for negotiations and “compromises” with Ukraine. The aggressor country is ready to negotiate with Ukraine on the basis of the Istanbul agreements and taking into account the situation on the ground.
