North Korean soldiers fight as part of the Marine Corps and Airborne Forces of the Russian Armed Forces.
Russia has begun to use North Korean soldiers in offensive operations in the Kursk region, and they have already suffered their first defeats. The Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine reported this on its Telegram channel on Saturday, December 14.
North Korean soldiers are fighting as part of the combined Marine Corps and Airborne Forces units of the Russian Armed Forces. In one of the positions, fighters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces “covered” DPRK army personnel using FPV drones.
“The estimated losses of units manned by Russian and North Korean personnel as of December 14, 2024 are approximately 200 military personnel,” the report said.
Intelligence added that the language barrier complicates the control and coordination of actions in the process of deploying North Korean troops at the front.
“Due to this problem, North Korean soldiers opened fire on the vehicles of the Akhmat battalion. The result was that eight Kadyrovites were killed,” said the Main Intelligence Directorate.
A special counterintelligence regime was introduced in places where North Korean soldiers were stationed – to allow Russian soldiers and officers into these places, FSB officers checked them and confiscated phones and other devices.
As you know, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that many North Korean soldiers will be sent to the front line in the future. Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will use them as “cannon fodder.”
