The National Assembly voted to impeach President Yoon Seok-yol over his failure to impose martial law.
South Korea impeached President Yoon Seok Yeol on December 14. Yonhap reports.
It was noted that the National Assembly voted to impeach President Yoon Seok Yeol for his failure to impose martial law.
The impeachment motion against Yoon passed by a vote of 204 to 85, with three abstentions, and eight invalid ballots were recorded.
South Korean President Yoon Seok-yol was previously reported to have rejected accusations of rebellion and said martial law was a “well-thought-out political decision.”
Let us remind you that on December 3, the President of South Korea declared martial law in the country. He named the reason as the opposition, which, according to him, is an “anti-state force” that paralyzes the work of the country. South Korea’s parliament has voted to end martial law.
The opposition has started impeachment proceedings against the president. However, the overwhelming majority of representatives from the ruling party refused to participate in the vote. The Ministry of Justice has imposed a travel ban on Yoon Seok Yeol.
