The defense budget for 2025 was adopted in the United States of America.
The Lower House of Congress has approved the annual defense policy bill for next year. The project provides for 883.7 billion dollars. The document has already been sent to the Senate for consideration and approval before the end of Congress at the end of December. The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) received a bipartisan vote of 281 in favor and 140 against in the House. This was reported by The Hill.
Package for 883.7 billion dollars. includes, in particular, a 14.5% salary increase for junior military personnel and a 4.5% increase for all other military personnel. Money has also been allocated for the production of 200 aircraft and 300 military vehicles.
There is no provision in the US defense budget for 2025 to extend Lend-Lease for Ukraine.
Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova on Facebook informed that this year the 2025 Defense Budget Bill (NDAA), approved by the Senate, contained provisions to extend the Lend-Lease law to protect democracy in Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States actively advocated for him. However, the bill already approved by the House of Representatives did not contain such a provision.
The corresponding provision is not included in the consolidated text of the bill,” Markarova wrote.
The diplomat noted that the embassy continues to actively work to preserve this mechanism.
Let us recall that recently the newly elected US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine, upon his return to office, “probably” will not receive the same amount of assistance as from the previous administration.
