Israel announced the destruction of the Syrian navy during an operation on December 9.
This was announced by Defense Minister Israel Katz.
Israeli naval missile ships carried out this operation on the night of December 10. According to Katz, the military is consolidating a buffer zone between Syria and the Golan Heights and creating a “sterile defense zone” in southern Syria.
The UN previously called on Israel to stop military operations in Syria.
According to media reports, the day before, Israeli troops attacked more than 250 military targets in Syria, including in Latakia, where Russian military bases are located. Russian ships based in Tartus, after the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad, are in the Mediterranean Sea 13 km from the coast, writes Al-Jazeera.
Israel also struck the largest air bases in Syria.
