The High Council of Justice dismissed judge Lyudmila Arestova, whose Russian passport was discovered by journalists a year ago.
Lyudmila Arestova was a judge of the Donetsk District Administrative Court.
In addition, in May 2014, Arestova flew to Moscow, and during 2018-2022 she spent more than 250 days in occupied Crimea.
Back in August, the disciplinary chamber of the GRP removed Arestova from administering justice and recommended his dismissal.
The public organization “All-Ukrainian Association “Automaidan” filed a complaint against Judge Arestova to the judicial management body after the release of the “Schemes” investigation.
On November 21, the High Council of Justice during a meeting unanimously confirmed the decision of its disciplinary chamber to dismiss Arestova, but today, December 10, all 13 members of the VRP voted for it and approved it finally. The basis for dismissal is the commission of a significant disciplinary offense (Clause 3, Part 6, Article 126 of the Constitution of Ukraine), Chairman of the High Council of Justice Grigory Usik said at a meeting on December 10.
In July 2023, Schemes published an investigation that judge Lyudmila Arestova, according to an extract from the automated Rospassport system, is a Russian citizen. The document indicates that Arestova received a Russian passport on the basis of the so-called “agreement on the admission of Crimea to Russia” in 2014, according to which citizens of Ukraine and stateless persons who at that time were permanently residing on the peninsula were recognized as citizens of Russia.
