The IDF conducted a massive operation to clear ships that once belonged to Syrian government forces.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that on the night of December 10, the Israeli Navy destroyed the Syrian Navy in Syria as part of a large-scale operation. This was reported by The Times of Israel on Tuesday, December 10.
In his statement, Katz emphasized that Israeli troops are consolidating the buffer zone between Syria and the Golan Heights.
“In recent days, the Israel Defense Forces have moved to attack and destroy strategic targets that threaten the State of Israel. Anyone who follows in Assad’s footsteps will end up like Assad. We will not let an extremist Islamic terrorist entity that threatens Israel from outside its borders,” he said.
He also announced the creation of a “sterile defense zone” in southern Syria, which would prevent terrorist threats while avoiding a permanent Israeli presence in the region.
Earlier, the media suggested that Israel had carried out a massive operation to remove ships that once belonged to Syrian government forces.
Let’s remember that on December 8, Israeli ground forces for the first time since the October War of 1973 openly crossed the territory of Syria, crossing the demilitarized zone on the border. Israeli authorities called it a temporary measure.
Today the media reported that the Israeli military has advanced deeper into Syrian territory, and is now separated from the capital Damascus by approximately 25 km. The movement of troops is accompanied by active strikes against military targets.
