The US State Department said that if Ukraine lowers the age of mobilization, Washington and its allies will equip the recruits.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is opposed to lowering the age of mobilization, which is requested by the United States of America. The politician wrote this on Tuesday, December 10, in the microblog X.
He noted that the country now needs to focus on providing military equipment and training to the existing brigades, and not compensate for its lack with young soldiers.
“There is a lot of talk in the media about lowering the conscription age for Ukrainians to be sent to the front and training with young soldiers,” he wrote.
The head of state noted that the priority should be the supply of missiles and the reduction of Russia’s military potential, and not the reduction of the conscription age in Ukraine. He emphasized that the goal should be to save as many lives as possible, not to keep weapons stockpiled.
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that if Ukraine lowers the age of mobilization to 18 years, all recruits will be given full equipment.
We remind you that President Vladimir Zelensky said that currently the authorities are not preparing to lower the age of mobilization.
