Russia asks Turkey to help evacuate troops from Syria – media

According to journalists, Russian soldiers will be sent to the region where the units of the Turkish armed forces are located, and then sent by air to Russia.

Russian authorities have appealed to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan with a request to facilitate the safe exit of Russian troops from Syria. CNN Türk reported this on Sunday, December 8.

“Russia turned to Turkey for support for the safe withdrawal of Russian troops from Syria. It looks like they will withdraw their soldiers from the region, except for the Tartus naval base and the Khmeimim airbase,” reports channels.

It was mentioned that Russian soldiers will be sent to the region where Turkish armed forces units are located, and then sent by air to Russia.

Earlier, the Main Intelligence Directorate reported that the situation of the Russian contingent in Syria continues to be difficult. The remnants of the Russian group “continue to hastily pack up and sail the sea and sky.”

Let’s recall that on December 3 it was reported that Russia withdrew its military fleet from Syria. Russia’s naval contingent in Syria includes five ships and one submarine.
