Ukraine has condemned Russia’s interference in the Romanian presidential election. This is another stage of Russia’s hybrid aggression against Europe, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said on Saturday, December 7.
“Russia’s brazen interference in Romania’s internal affairs is an attempt to deprive the Romanian people of the constitutional right to freely express their will manifested itself recently in Russia’s active efforts to undermine the situation in Georgia, Moldova and several other countries,” the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry said that Russia’s interference in Romania’s internal affairs proves that the Kremlin’s aggressive plans go beyond Ukraine and extend to EU and NATO countries. The ministry believes that the response to this should be maximum support for Ukraine to maintain stability in Europe and the world.
Ukraine says Romania is an important neighbor and partner. Therefore, solidarity with the Romanian people remains unshaken.
“We sincerely hope that during the further electoral process, Romanian citizens will be able to exercise their right to vote without foreign interference,” the Foreign Ministry added.

The Romanian Constitutional Court annulled the results of the first round of presidential elections. The reason for the cancellation of the results is the intervention of the Russian Federation and cyber attacks. Now the country must call new elections.
