On December 3, the Verkhovna Rada adopted government bill No. 12076 on the specifics of registering Ukrainian citizens for military registration as a basis.
In particular, it provides for the following innovations:
- young men who turn 17 years old can register as conscripts using the conscript’s Electronic Account, or by personal arrival at the relevant TCC and SP;
- commanders of military units, the head of an intelligence agency, heads of the Central Directorate or a regional body of the SBU have the right to issue orders to call up reservists and those liable for military service for conscription during mobilization, for a special period – on the day of conscription and enrollment in the lists of a military unit;
- women who have expressed a desire to undergo basic military service are registered as conscripts. After completing basic military service, they are registered as persons liable for military service.
Citizens of Ukraine upon reaching the age of 17 will automatically register for military service. This means that the young man no longer needs to contact the TCC or undergo a medical examination. It will be enough to go through identification in Reserve+, after which the application itself will generate a military registration document, as Defense Minister Rustem Umerov commented on the adoption of the law in the first reading.
