The Ukrainian Armed Forces will be armed with a remote mining system.
The United States of America will transfer three different types of remote mining systems to Ukraine, including anti-personnel mines. These weapons will be transferred in future military aid packages. This was reported by The New York Times with reference to the International Campaign to Ban Landmines.
It is noted that White House officials told non-profit organizations on November 22 that the United States will send three types of anti-personnel mines to Ukraine, all of which have a self-destruct feature.
The first type is a 155mm ADAM (Area Denial Artillery Munition) artillery shell that opens in the air and releases 36 small mines that unfurl wires when they land on the ground.
The second type is a portable system for laying mixed minefields MOPMS (Modular Pack Mine System). It is operated by two military personnel, and the system scatters 17 anti-tank mines and four anti-personnel mines over the surrounding area.
The third type is the Volcano mining system, which releases anti-personnel and anti-tank mines from cylinders mounted on trucks or helicopters to quickly create minefields.
Let us recall that in November, the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, approved the transfer of American anti-personnel mines to Ukraine. This decision by the White House is a radical change in its own policy and is caused by the intensifying offensive of Russian troops in the eastern regions of Ukraine.
