The second round of voting, where Calin Georgescu and Elena Lasconi will compete, will take place on Sunday, December 8th.
In Romania, the Constitutional Court on December 2 recognized the validity of the first round of presidential elections. This is what the head of the court, Marian Enache, said, the Romanian Journal reports.
It was noted that the Constitutional Court unanimously decided to reject the appeal filed by presidential candidate Christian Terges, and unanimously confirmed and recognized as valid the results of the first round of the presidential elections in Romania.
“The court noted that the diaspora votes were not appealed and, as a result, it was decided that there was no need for a recount,” Enache explained.
He added that even in cases where some discrepancies were identified between the number of votes counted among the candidates, these discrepancies were not the result of fraud that could change the outcome of the election, and were considered minor errors that occurred in the counting of votes and will not affect the outcome of the presidential race.
The second round of voting, where Calin Georgescu and Elena Lasconi will compete, will take place on Sunday, December 8th.
It was previously reported that pro-Russian far-right politician Calin Georgescu won the presidential election in Romania in the first round.
We remind you that the parliamentary elections were held in Romania on Sunday, December 1. The total turnout for this vote was very high compared to previous elections.
