The head of Zaporozhye announced the existence of several emergency plans, and in the event of a threat, “people will be warned honestly.”
Russia may go on the offensive against Zaporozhye and are building fortifications on the approaches to the city, The Economist wrote, citing Ukrainian intelligence. Now the front line runs 30 kilometers from the city.
Acting mayor Regina Kharchenko calls Zaporozhye “a city of men of steel that holds on and handles, among other things, defense issues.” In an interview with Novosti Priazovya, she assured that fortifications are being built, and the city is ready for critical energy situations.
I won’t talk about the additional fortification line now, where exactly it is, but the fact that it is being built is not a secret, because they talked about it back in the summer. All the forces and means of local self-government and the regional state administration are used to create this line of fortification and defense. At the same time, I want to emphasize that the community and local government are still a big story about the functioning of the city as such and the provision of all social services to the people there now. We have repeatedly said that if we all get together and go, then what cities are we protecting and what are we protecting if there are no people,” Kharchenko said.
Earlier, Rakurs wrote that Ukrainian units were expecting a Russian strike in Zaporozhye.
We expect active enemy actions in one of the directions in the Zaporozhye region,” said the commander of the third operational brigade of the NSU “Spartan” Alexey Khilchenko in a comment to Public.
Now the Russians are accumulating forces and regrouping on this section of the front, in particular, they are not using armored vehicles for assaults. Colonel Khilchenko assures that the defenders of Ukraine are ready to repel the enemy.
