Ukraine can return the territories seized by Russia through diplomatic means, the head of state said.
The Ukrainian army cannot independently return all the occupied territories. Kyiv will seek diplomatic ways to achieve peace. President Vladimir Zelensky said this in an interview with Kyodo News.
The head of state noted that his country’s support from its partners is “insufficient” and called on NATO to invite Kyiv to membership negotiations in the Alliance as soon as possible.
Zelensky openly admitted that it would be difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to return by force some parts of the country occupied by Russia, including Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014.
“Our army is not strong enough for this. It is true.
Zelensky also noted that such measures can only be considered when we know that we are strong enough so that Russia cannot launch a new aggression against Ukraine.
The President stressed that the war had entered a “difficult period.”
Let’s remember that, according to Zelensky, representatives of the EU and NATO should be involved in possible negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
The president believes that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin could attack again in just a few years if the war is frozen without strengthening Ukraine.
