German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Kyiv on December 2 for an unannounced visit.
In the capital, Scholz will meet with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. This visit to Kyiv will be his first in two years. The German Chancellor promised that during the visit he would announce the provision of weapons worth 650 million euros, which should be delivered in December. This was reported by the DPA agency, which quoted Scholz.
Ukraine can rely on us. We say what we do. And we do what we say. To confirm once again, in the evening I left for Kyiv: by train through a country that had been defending itself from the Russian war of conquest for more than 1000 days, Scholz also confirmed his trip to Ukraine on the social network X.
The DPA suggests that Scholz’s conversation with Zelensky will likely also cover possible negotiations with Russia to end the war.
Let us recall that on November 15, Scholz had a telephone conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. This happened for the first time since December 2022. After this, the German Chancellor said that the conversation did not show a change in the views of the Russian leader.
And on November 29, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky had a telephone conversation with Scholz. They talked about air defense, peace and Putin’s call.
