Europe in particular can play an important role if a ceasefire is reached and troops are needed to verify compliance.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Kallas suggests the possibility of sending foreign troops to help Ukraine. ANSA reported this on Sunday, December 1.
According to Kallas, the discussion now focuses on which countries are ready to send their military to Ukraine and which are not.
“I believe that nothing can be thrown away, and there is a need to maintain strategic ambiguity,” he explained.
Callas noted that Europe could play an important role if a ceasefire is reached and there is a need to send troops to verify its compliance.
“In any case, the decision remains with Ukraine,” the official added.
Recently, five French deputies from different political forces wrote an appeal to the country’s Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu calling on him to send military instructors to Ukraine.
Let’s remember that NATO allies are getting closer to sending troops to Ukraine to train Ukrainian forces, although the United States is still opposed to such an idea.
