The troop withdrawal was part of a regrouping ahead of the arrival of reinforcements for a counterattack, Damascus said.
Syrian authorities announced on Saturday a “temporary withdrawal of troops” from the city of Aleppo. This was reported by Reuters on Saturday, November 30.
“The military said the withdrawal was part of regrouping before reinforcements arrived for a counterattack,” the report said.
The military also said dozens of soldiers had been killed or wounded in heavy fighting with rebels in Aleppo and Idlibi in recent days.
Meanwhile, Anadolu reported that the rebels controlled more than 50 settlements in Idlib and Aleppo provinces.
We remind you that this week the anti-government forces launched an offensive in the provinces of Idlib and Aleppo. They took control of several settlements and most of the city of Aleppo. This is their first offensive in five years against President Bashar al-Assad’s army and the Russian contingent.
In this regard, Assad immediately flew to Moscow. Media reported that Russia will provide more military aid to Syria to stop the advance of the rebels.
Turkey responded by continuing to fight in Syria
