The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responded to Donald Trump’s decision to appoint a special representative on the war in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomes the decision of US President-elect Donald Trump to appoint retired General Keith Kellogg as special envoy to the war in Ukraine. The department noted that its mission is “really important and complex.” This was stated by the speaker of the Foreign Ministry Georgy Tikhy at a briefing on November 28.
According to him, during Trump’s first presidency, the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States maintained close contact with Kellogg, in particular within the framework of expert diplomacy.
Of course, we look forward to even more active interaction with him in his new role. We will cooperate, we will establish contacts,” added the Foreign Ministry speaker.
Let us recall that on November 27, US President-elect Donald Trump announced that he had nominated retired General Keith Kellogg for the post of special envoy for Ukraine and Russia.
Kellogg previously presented Trump with his peace plan. It envisages providing Ukraine with more weapons only if Kyiv agrees to start negotiations with Moscow. Also, military support for Ukraine will increase if Russia refuses negotiations.
