The world’s oldest person, 112-year-old John Tinniswood, has died in the UK.
John Tinniswood, 112, the world’s oldest person, died on November 25 at a nursing home in Southport, England, Guinness World Records said.
He received his record holder title in April 2024 after the death of the previous owner, 114-year-old Juan Vicente Perez from Venezuela.
John was born on August 26, 1912 in Liverpool, where he spent his childhood and met his future wife.
During the war, John served in the Royal Army, responsible for managing finances, providing food and finding missing soldiers. After the war, he worked as an accountant and retired in 1972.
John was married for 44 years, but lost his wife in 1986. Despite the loss, he remained optimistic and lived to be 112 years old, becoming one of the four oldest Britons in history.
According to his family, John remained calm, intelligent and friendly even in his old age. His life was full of small joys, such as his favorite meal of fish and chips every Friday and watching Liverpool Football Club.
“You’re tall or short, and there’s nothing you can do about it,” John liked to say.
Despite his old age, he maintained a sharp mind, benefiting from the news and managing his own finances. He believes that the world has never been better than in his lifetime, but accepts it as it is.
It was earlier reported that Alfred Blaschke from Texas, USA, has officially reclaimed his status as the oldest person in the world to make a tandem parachute jump.
