Deputies of the Georgian Dream party unanimously voted to recognize the powers of the parliament of 150 deputies, approved their representative as speaker and elected the chairmen of all committees.
This was reported by JAM News and Georgia News. At the first meeting, only 88 deputies appeared, all from the party in power. The voting took place against the backdrop of mass protest.
On November 25, Georgian Dream convened the first meeting of the new parliament.
Not a single representative of the opposition and President Salome Zurabishvili joined this meeting, and thousands of people came to the parliament to protest.
Russian slaves ask to free Georgia. Otherwise, measures provided for by unwritten laws will be taken against you. We ask you not to leave remnants of Russian law, corrupt judges, propaganda media and other illegal items at the place of establishing order. Please take into account that power is in the people – messages with such content are heard from megaphones in the square in front of the Parliament of Georgia, where the first meeting of the 11th convocation is taking place.
Meanwhile, the owner of the Georgian Dream party, Bidzini Ivanishvili, received a standing ovation in the hall.
“I want to personally thank Bidzin Ivanishvili, who gave us the opportunity to say so boldly and proudly that we serve our Motherland and will never be afraid that this main direction of our activities may be in question,” said the leader of the parliamentary majority, Mamuka Mdinaradze, at the end of the meeting.
After this, the hall burst into applause – Georgian Dream gave Ivanishvili a standing ovation.
