IDPs return to BOT because they did not receive enough support and assistance from the state to integrate into new communities.
People’s Deputy, member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, Deoccupation and Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations Maxim Tkachenko reported that about 150 thousand internally displaced people returned to the territories temporarily occupied by Russia. He said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
In particular, up to 70 thousand of these people left for the temporarily occupied Mariupol.
The deputy noted that 200 thousand residents of Mariupol left the city, fleeing the war that Russia brought to the Ukrainian land, at the same time, every third of them returned home, to Mariupol, to work.
“According to estimates, it is about 67-70 thousand people I think, these are terrible numbers,” added Tkachenko.
Tkachenko believes that IDPs return to WOT because they did not receive proper support and assistance from the state to integrate into new communities.
Let’s remember that the parliament gave some categories of internally displaced people a priority right to receive compensation for their destroyed housing.
