The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, which is under the occupation of Russian forces, twice this week found itself on the verge of blackout due to constant shelling by the Russian military.
Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko announced this on November 23.
As a result of the shelling, one of the ZNPP power lines was damaged, but, according to Galushchenko, as of Saturday, power engineers had resumed its operation.
The minister clarified that this is a high-voltage overhead line connecting the Zaporizhia NPP with the unified energy system of Ukraine.
The station can again receive electricity from two power lines. I am grateful to the power engineers for their work,” Galushchenko said.
The minister added that the situation at the station remains threatening:
Once again, I emphasize that only the return of control over the nuclear power plant to Ukraine can guarantee the safe operation of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant.
