Chinese leader Xi Jinping called on the G20 to help “cool down” the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, after Ukraine’s first attacks with ATACMS missiles on Russia, called for a “stop of escalation” and cited the need to resolve the “conflict.” This was reported on Tuesday, November 19, by the Chinese news agency Xinhua.
“Expanding the crisis or escalating the conflict is not what China wants. We will continue to play a constructive role in promoting a ceasefire and achieving peace,” Xi Jinping said in a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the G20 summit.
The previous day, The New York Times reported, citing a source, that US President Joe Biden for the first time authorized Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles to strike Russia. This permission was in response to Russia’s decision to engage North Korean troops in the conflict.
Later, President Vladimir Zelensky commented on this information in the media.
And now it became known about the position of the Kremlin on this issue. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced a “qualitatively new round of tension.”
