The State Department said it adjusts funds provided to Ukraine as appropriate. However, there are no new announcements in this regard.
The spokesman of the US State Department, Matthew Miller, at a briefing on Monday, November 18, refused to comment on media information about the permission to fire ATACMS missiles on Russian territory.
When asked for comment, Miller said “I have no word right now of a change in our policy.”
At the same time, he recalled the role of the US in supporting Ukraine, in particular, the creation of the Contact Group on support for Ukraine and holding Russia for its actions.
“We’ve been clear and remain clear that we will always appropriate the funds we provide to Ukraine when appropriate. And you’ve seen evidence of that in the steps we’ve taken over the past few years,” Miller added.
He also declined to comment on a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, which warned the United States against escalating the “conflict.”
Here, however, he recalled that Russia “occasionally led to the escalation of the conflict,” in particular, attracting 11 thousand North Korean troops.
As you know, The New York Times, citing sources, reported that the current US President Joe Biden for the first time authorized the Ukrainian military to use long-range ATACMS missiles to attack the Russian territory.
On Monday, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, confirmed at a meeting of the European Commission that the United States allowed Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles on Russian territory. According to him, Kyiv received permission for strikes with a range of up to 300 km.
