Robotic guardian dogs Spot began guarding the residence of US President-elect Donald Trump.
Spot, a working dog developed by Boston Dynamics, already patrols the Mar-a-Lago private villa in Palm Beach, Florida. These assistants are unarmed and can be controlled remotely using a joystick. The BBC reported this.
These works can patrol the area automatically, but they must be programmed in advance with a suitable route. On each leg of the work there is a warning inscription: “Do not iron.”
The US Secret Service did not directly answer journalists’ questions about the use of Spot in Trump’s protection. However, Boston Dynamics confirmed that the federal agency is using their development.
In the run-up to the election, Trump suffered two assassination attempts. The first took place in July of this year at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, the second on the golf course at the Mar-a-Lago residence in September.
Former Secret Service employee Ron Williams said that it was these events that pushed the service to technological modernization, because it improves the ability to identify and contain threats.
Let us remember that the suspect in one of the attempts on Donald Trump, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, actively campaigned for US military intervention in support of Kyiv in the war against Russia. In particular, he helped attract recruits from groups of Afghan soldiers who had fled the Taliban.
