On the night of November 17 (from 20.00 on November 16), the Russian occupiers carried out a massive combined attack on Ukrainian energy sector facilities with various types of air, ground and sea-based missiles, as well as Shahed-type attack UAVs.
In total, according to preliminary data, the radio technical troops of the Ukrainian Air Force identified and escorted 210 enemy air targets – 120 missiles and 90 UAVs.
Russian Nazis launched the following missiles:
- hypersonic ship-based missile 3M22 “Zircon”;
- 8 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles;
- 101 cruise missiles Kh-101, “Caliber”;
- ballistic missile “Iskander-M”;
- 4 cruise/anti-radar missiles Kh-22/Kh-31P;
- 5 X-59/X-69 guided aircraft missiles;
- 90 attack UAVs/drones of unknown type.
The Russians involved in the air attack seven Tu-160 and 16 Tu-95MS strategic bombers, 2 Tu-22M3 long-range bombers, 5 Su-34 fighter-bombers, four Su-27 fighters, 10 MiR-31 fighters.
During the night, all air defense forces and means worked along the route of missiles and drones. Aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare equipment and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved.
According to preliminary data, as of 12:00 on November 17, the Air Force has information about the destruction of 144 air targets – 102 missiles and 42 UAVs):
- hypersonic ship-based missile 3M22 “Zircon”;
- 7 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles;
- 85 cruise missiles Kh-101, “Caliber”;
- four Kh-22/Kh-31P cruise/anti-radar missiles;
- 5 X-59/69 guided aircraft missiles;
- 42 attack UAVs/drones of unidentified type (from the Kursk, Orel, Primorsko-Akhtarsk regions – Russian Federation).
As a result of active opposition from the Defense Forces, 41 enemy UAVs were lost in different regions of Ukraine, two more UAVs flew towards Russia and the temporarily occupied territory.
Air defense worked in almost all regions of Ukraine – in Kyiv, Cherkassy, Kirovograd, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkov, Poltava, Odessa, Nikolaev, Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Vinnitsa, Khmelnytsky, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Volyn and Lviv regions .
