Since the beginning of the massive invasion, Japan has introduced 26 packages of sanctions against individuals and legal entities in Russia and Belarus.
The foreign ministers of Ukraine and Japan, Andrei Sibiga and Takeshi Iwaya, agreed at the meeting to increase the pressure of sanctions on Russia, Sibiga said this at a joint briefing on Saturday, November 16.
The parties discussed in detail ways of involving Japan in the practical implementation of the Victory Plan and the Peace Formula.
“We agree to increase the pressure of sanctions on Russia,” Sibiga said.
He added that since the beginning of the full aggression, Japan has imposed 26 packages of sanctions against individuals and legal entities in Russia and Belarus.
Currently, the parties will continue to discuss next steps to further liberalize the visa regime.
In this regard, the Japanese minister said that during the meeting they agreed to cooperate in the preparation of an international conference on mine action in Ukraine, which Japan will hold in the fall of 2025. The Japanese side is currently waiting for visit from First Deputy Prime Minister Sviridenko in December to promote efforts.
We remind you that Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya made an unexpected visit to Ukraine on November 16 for negotiations with officials.
Earlier it was reported that Japan will allocate more than $3 billion as part of a loan from the G7 states to Ukraine in the amount of $50 billion, which will be repaid from the fixed assets of the Russian Central Bank.
