A Russian agent was discovered in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The SBU, with the assistance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky, detained a “mole” of the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The attacker turned out to be a lieutenant colonel – the commander of one of the units of the Special Operations Forces. The Security Service of Ukraine reported this on November 15 in Telegram.
The traitor was recruited by the Russians because of his contacts in Russia at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, and in the spring of 2024 he began to carry out the tasks of the enemy. In particular, he was supposed to convey to the Russians plans for military operations of the Defense Forces behind enemy lines. Curators from Moscow were more interested in intelligence data about sabotage and reconnaissance raids of Ukrainian special forces behind the front line in the Zaporozhye, Kherson and Crimean directions.
To obtain information, “Mole” used his official position, thanks to which he received information about the planned routes of movement of Defense Forces soldiers, their weapons and “targets.” The enemy wanted to use this information to eliminate MTR fighters on the front line or temporarily occupied territory.
The traitor’s crimes were documented step by step, and he himself was detained. He has already been informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The attacker is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Let us remind you that the SBU detained an agent of the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate who set fire to a military pickup truck and a transformer substation in Chernigov. He also planned to kill Ukrainian military personnel.
