In conditions of general economy in Europe, salaries of employees of EU structures, on the contrary, will increase again.
An increase of 7.2% is expected this year, which will benefit European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and her colleagues. This is the sixth increase in salaries for “Eurocrats” since the beginning of 2022.
The increase in wages in the EU is due to inflation and increased living costs in Brussels and Luxembourg, the EU notes. Thus, since January of this year, 40 thousand employees of EU institutions have already received a 3% increase. The new increase will be officially announced in December – it applies to the period from July this year, that is, salaries will be transferred retroactively.
The minimum base salary of an ordinary employee will increase from 3 thousand 361 to 3 thousand 603 euros, and the maximum – from 23 thousand 959 to 25 thousand 685 euros per month. 101 euros, and the salary of European Commissioners will increase from 26 thousand 169 to 28 thousand 053 euros.
The EU plans to spend an additional 16.6 million euros to increase salaries, planning to cover the costs through cuts in other budget items.
